If you’re looking for a warm, hearty, and easy-to-make comfort food, this Slow Cooker Ham and Potatoes dish is perfect. It combines tender potatoes, savory ham, melted cheese, and onions into a creamy, cheesy meal that’s satisfying and simple to prepare. With just a few ingredients and a slow cooker, you’ll have a delicious dinner ready with very little effort.

Ingredients:

  • 6 to 8 slices of ham, chopped
  • 4 to 5 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 cup grated cheese (cheddar works best)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (optional, for creaminess)
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the slow cooker: Grease the inside of your slow cooker lightly with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Layer the ingredients:
    • Place half of the sliced potatoes on the bottom of the slow cooker.
    • Add half of the chopped ham and half of the chopped onion.
    • Sprinkle with a little salt and black pepper.
    • Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, ham, and onion.
  3. Mix the sauce: In a bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, and melted butter. Stir well until smooth.
  4. Pour the sauce: Pour the mixture evenly over the potatoes and ham in the slow cooker.
  5. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or on high for 3–4 hours, until the potatoes are tender.
  6. Add the cheese: About 15–20 minutes before serving, sprinkle the grated cheese on top. Cover again until the cheese melts.
  7. Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve hot as a main dish.

Tips and Variations:

  • Extra creamy: You can add a second can of cream soup (cream of chicken or celery) for more creaminess.
  • Cheese lovers: Mix in some cheese between the layers for an even cheesier flavor.
  • Veggie boost: Add sliced carrots, peas, or broccoli for a healthier version.
  • Spice it up: Sprinkle a little paprika, garlic powder, or cayenne pepper for extra flavor.
  • Leftovers: Store in the fridge for up to 3 days. It reheats well in the microwave or oven.

This recipe is perfect for family dinners, potlucks, or anytime you want a filling, cozy meal without spending hours in the kitchen. The slow cooker does all the hard work, leaving you with a dish that’s rich, creamy, and delicious.
