Ingredients
- 500 g (1.1 lbs) boneless chicken breast, cut into small cubes
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 1 cup cold milk (or water)
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 1 tsp paprika (optional)
- 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- Prepare the Batter
- In a large bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- In another bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch, and baking powder.
- Coat the Chicken
- Add the chicken cubes into the wet mixture and stir well to coat evenly.
- Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet mixture, stirring until you get a thick, smooth batter that covers the chicken completely.
- Heat the Oil
- Pour enough oil into a deep frying pan or pot to submerge the nuggets.
- Heat over medium-high until the oil reaches about 170°C (340°F).
- Fry the Nuggets
- Drop spoonfuls of battered chicken into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry for about 4–5 minutes, turning occasionally, until the nuggets are golden brown and crispy.
- Drain and Serve
- Remove the nuggets and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces—ketchup, mayonnaise, honey mustard, or BBQ sauce.
Tips for Best Results
- For extra flavor, marinate the chicken cubes in a little salt, pepper, and garlic for 30 minutes before coating.
- Ensure your oil is hot enough before frying to avoid soggy nuggets.
- These nuggets can be frozen after frying—just reheat in the oven for a quick snack.
