🍰 Creamy Custard Slice Recipe
Ingredients:
For the cake batter:
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (10 g) baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the cream filling:
- 4 cups milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- ½ cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 200 ml heavy cream (whipped)
For topping:
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions:
- Prepare the cream filling:
- In a saucepan, mix milk, sugar, egg yolk, and cornstarch.
- Cook over medium heat while whisking until it thickens.
- Remove from heat, add vanilla, let it cool, then fold in the whipped cream.
- Refrigerate while you prepare the cake.
- Prepare the cake batter:
- Beat eggs and sugar until fluffy.
- Add yogurt, oil, and vanilla.
- Gradually mix in flour and baking powder.
- Pour the batter into a greased baking dish and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes, until golden.
- Let the cake cool, then cut it in half horizontally.
- Assemble the cake:
- Spread the chilled cream filling evenly on the bottom half.
- Place the top half of the cake over it.
- Refrigerate for 2–3 hours to set.
- Serve:
- Cut into squares, dust with powdered sugar, and enjoy!
