Cheesy Sausage Breakfast Casserole

Sausage Breakfast Casserole Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) breakfast sausage
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups (480ml) milk
  • 1 ½ cups (170g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup (120g) shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)
  • 2 cups (about 120g) frozen hash browns (or diced cooked potatoes)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch (23×33 cm) baking dish.
  2. Cook the Sausage:
    In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and crumbled. Drain excess fat and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Mixture:
    In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  4. Assemble the Casserole:
    • Spread the cooked sausage evenly in the baking dish.
    • Add the hash browns on top of the sausage.
    • Sprinkle cheddar cheese (and mozzarella if using) evenly over the potatoes.
    • Pour the egg mixture evenly over the top.
  5. Bake:
    Place in the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden brown.
  6. Serve:
    Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm — enjoy!
