Sausage Breakfast Casserole Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450g) breakfast sausage
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups (480ml) milk
- 1 ½ cups (170g) shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup (120g) shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)
- 2 cups (about 120g) frozen hash browns (or diced cooked potatoes)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- ½ teaspoon onion powder (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch (23×33 cm) baking dish.
- Cook the Sausage:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and crumbled. Drain excess fat and set aside.
- Prepare the Mixture:
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Assemble the Casserole:
- Spread the cooked sausage evenly in the baking dish.
- Add the hash browns on top of the sausage.
- Sprinkle cheddar cheese (and mozzarella if using) evenly over the potatoes.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the top.
- Bake:
Place in the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden brown.
- Serve:
Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm — enjoy!
